Diabetes is extremely common in South Asian populations, including those who live in Scotland. More and more people are developing the disease and therefore we need, urgently, to find ways of preventing it.
Work is currently taking place amongst Indians and Pakistanis in Glasgow and Edinburgh to test out ways to prevent diabetes. It is thought that diabetes can be prevented by maintaining a healthy weight and being physically active.
Over 300 families will be involved and are being recruited now!!
If you are over the age of 35, of Indian or Pakistani origin (based in Edinburgh or Glasgow), and are interested (with our help) in trying to reduce your risk of diabetes, we would like to hear from you.
